Gartang Gali - Haven For Adventure Seekers
Gartang Gali is a historic wooden bridge located approximately 90 km from Uttarkashi, in the Uttarakhand region of India. This bridge, constructed around 150 years ago by Pathans from Peshawar, stands at an impressive height of 11,000 feet.
Originally a vital trade route, the bridge facilitated the movement of goods between India and Tibet. However, it was closed in 1962 following the Indo-China war, leading to a halt in its use for several decades. Recently, Gartang Gali has been reopened for tourists, allowing visitors to experience its historical and architectural significance while enjoying the stunning views it offers at such a high altitude.
Lakhamandal
Lakhamandal is an ancient Hindu temple located in the Jaunsar-Bawar district of Dehradun district of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is very important for Shivas who believe that visiting this shrine can relieve their pain. The complex has many ancient statues and intricate architecture that reflect the rich cultural and religious heritage of the region. This area is not only a place of worship but also a popular destination for those who want to explore historical and spiritual sites.
This NAGARA style SHIVA TEMPLE was built around 12th - 13th century AD. Numerous statues and artifacts are scattered nearby, showing the remains of many sites of the same sect in the past, but now only this temple still survives. The earliest evidence of construction work at Laka Mandal dates back to the 5th to 8th centuries AD, with the construction of pyramidal structures based on brick structures found beneath the rocks. A stele (6th century AD) found at the site records that Princess Ishwara of the Sinhpura royal line built a Shiva temple at Laka Mandal to please her late husband Chandala, the spiritually healthy son of the king of Jalandhar. - Director of Archeology
